Run - Epik High
Sometimes I just want to run away from my life and just be free like the wind, but I know that it's impossible for me. So this song always helps me to run away from life mentally. That's why I love Epik High, not only for their music but for the meaning of the music.
When this started playing, I went EH DID I CLICK ON THE WRONG LINK lol. It’s pretty different from what we usually hear from them and I was kind of put off by that at first, but on multiple listens, I am really, really, REALLY liking this song. The chorus is so catchy. And the MV was really well done, I loved the storyline! ♥ The ending where he smiles for half a second made me happy. (And OMG I must be the last person to know that Epik High is producing a boyband a;sdlkfjlk. That’s awesome. The lead actor in this MV is one of the members and he is a major cutie, haha. Can’t wait to see them debut!)
Before U Go - TVXQ
Not going to lie, I was squealing when the music video teaser came out. And I don’t squeal for anything. Not necessarily because the concept was all that great – it was clearly inspired by Athena and considering how SM basically monopolized the hell out of Athena, I refuse to give them creativity points for a concept that is, essentially, recycled. No, the squealing was primarily for two reasons:
One, hotties wielding firearms. And doing windmill kicks. And being angsty. Need I go on.
Two, A VIDEO THAT DOESN’T FOLLOW THE SM ENTERTAINMENT MUSIC VIDEO FORMULA®?! The world must be ending.
SM hasn’t released a drama-style music video since, what, Zhang Li Yin’s last album in 2007? Granted, if you look at the raw structure of the MV for “Before U Go,” you’ll notice that it really doesn’t deviate too far from SM’s Music Video Formula. But they sure did a good job of hiding it this time.
Mirotic - TVXQ
I also happen to really, really, REALLY like the song. It sounds like a gigantic hit but it's not generic or bland - it's brilliant.
The melody takes a little time to digest but by the end of the song you'll want to play the whole thing again at full volume but what surprised me the most was the chorus and how brilliantly short and snappy it was. It wasn't done the wrong way and it didn't sound like it was forcing you to like the song, it sounded brilliantly in-your-face. 2000's R&B at it's best, if I may say so. Mirotic seems like a very heavy song on the surface but if you actually take time to listen to it well, it doesn't seem that heavy at all. The best part of this song is the middle 8 and even though it comes really really late in the song(you put it in the 50 seconds?) AND after a rap part, it's probably the most stunning thing in the already brilliant song.
And they really sell the song - the video's convincing. I mean the dancing(which is part of what makes them a great boy band..), the chaining themselves to walls and drowning in water really helps sell the thing. No wonder the album where this came from(also called Mirotic) was the biggest-selling album of 2008 in South Korea.
Lucifer - SHINee
One of the first things I thought while watching SHINee’s new “Lucifer” video was, “Something like this can only exist within Kpop.” It’s culturally acceptable for these guys to be somewhat androgynous (while remaining masculine). Their style is so strange, but I love it.
It’s fierce! Work it, boys! I love the choreography and adore the video’s focus on it. For a fierce song like this, Don’t give me videos with plots; just give me the dance and nobody gets hurt

I am the Best - 2NE1
With veteran director Seo Hyun Seung (“Fire”, “Try to Follow Me”, “Clap Your Hands” & “Can’t Nobody”) at the helm of this MV, there should be no surprise that the film sets feature over-the-top backdrops and an eye-popping wardrobe.
